Community Guidelines Regarding COVID-19
Tarbiya Institute is closely monitoring the rapidly changing situation regarding coronavirus (COVID-19). In conjunction with the most recent reports from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), Sacramento County’s community mitigation measures, and Placer County measures – Tarbiya Institute is recommending that people who are ill or at higher risk from COVID-19 avoid large gatherings to protect our members of the community most at risk. Our recommendations are as follows:
– Jumaa Prayer: Islam requires us to be vigilant with regard to matters of public health and safety. The Prophetic way is to avoid leaving your house if you feel you are ill with a contagious illness. Therefore, if you are elderly, or your immune system is otherwise compromised, or if you feel sick, we strongly recommend you do not come to the Jumaa prayer.
– Events and Gatherings (Friday Night Programs, etc.): If you are elderly, or your immune system is otherwise compromised, we strongly recommend you do not attend events or gatherings, including Friday Night Programs at both Tarbiya House Roseville and Tarbiya House Natomas.
Classes (Majlis meetings & Sunday school): classes will continue for now, and we will closely monitor and follow the guidance of our local school systems.
– If you have a flu, or flu like symptoms such as coughing, sneezing or fever, please do not come to Tarbiya House Roseville or Tarbiya House Natomas at all.
At Jumaa and other gatherings, please refrain from greeting each other by shaking hands and hugging – instead please greet each other with a hand on your heart.
– In the meantime, we plan to do our part and deep clean and purify both Tarbiya House Roseville and Tarbiya House Natomas, especially the high touch points such as door handles, light switches, water fountains.
In general, we strongly recommend that our community members do their part in practicing good personal hygiene habits. Please cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing; and refrain from touching your eyes, nose and mouth; clean frequently touched surfaces, and we recommend you talk to your doctor about getting a flu shot. You might consider bringing your own prayer mat as an extra precaution.
Say: “Never can anything befall us save what God has decreed! He is our Lord Supreme; and in God let the believers place their trust!” [9:51]
When Allah sends us such challenges, Muslims direct their attention to Allah by increasing acts of worship, making Du’a and increasing their good deeds. Please make du’a for our community and Tarbiya Institute. May Allah protect our Ummah, protect our Institute and keep our community healthy.
