Camp Counselor Position

The Camp Counselor is primarily responsible for one of the main groups of campers. These groups are divided up as follows: Group 1 (Pre-Kg, Kg) Group 2 (Kg, 1st grade), Group 3 (2nd, 3rd grade), Group 4 (4th, 5th grades) Leadership Camp (6th, 7th, 8th grades). The counselor will need to translate the established curriculum into daily lesson plans and lead campers through the established curriculum, personalizing the lessons to the students as needed. The counselor will need to participate with the students in all academic, physical, and spiritual activities. The counselor will need to establish proper classroom and activity behavior. The counselor will also be responsible for ensuring that attendees have an amazing time and are kept safe during the term. The counselor must work well in a team setting and be willing to accept evaluations for improvement and adjustments on a regular basis.

Qur’an Counselor Position

The Qur’an Counselor is primarily responsible for the Qur’an Elective class offered every day of the camp from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The counselor will need to prepare a daily lesson plan for the memorization of Surat Taha. This lesson plan will need to accommodate the varying pace with which students will memorize. The Qur’an Counselor will need to follow up with parents and regularly report progress as well as assign regular, achievable homework for the students to keep moving through the surah. This counselor will need to prepare additional memorization material for those students who finish early. The Qur’an Counselor should have memorized large portions of the Qur’an, have excellent tajweed and understanding of tajweed rules.

Arabic Counselor Position

The Arabic Counselor is primarily responsible for the Arabic Elective class offered every day o the camp from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. The counselor will need to assess the Arabic speaking, reading, and writing level of all students in the program. The counselor will need to prepare a daily lesson plan which develops Arabic speaking, reading and writing skills in all the students. The counselor should prepare separate material for all students who are advanced or moving at a faster pace than the rest of the class. The Arabic counselor will need to follow up regularly with progress reports for the Head Counselor and for parents to understand the progress of each student on a weekly basis. The Arabic Counselor should have experience in teaching Arabic vocabulary, grammar, morphology, reading, and penmanship.

Counselor requirements include, but are not limited to

  • High School Graduate (some college preferred)
  • Competent background in Islam and Islamic Knowledge
  • Experience with children in a classroom environment
  • Possess good character and good judgment and enthusiasm
  • Able to lift 25 lbs
  • Arrive before students to set up and leave after students to help clean
  • Attend and chaperon attendees on field trips


The standard term will be from July 3rd – August 3rd. 

Compensation is on an hourly basis and will reflect the applicants experience and education. Details and numbers will be discussed in person.
