Muslim & Proud: An Islamic Perspective On The LGTBQ Movement

As the pace of cultural transformation in the Western World hastens, the Muslim community is faced with profound moral and social challenges.

Gay marriage has been legalized. The LGBTQ community is now mainstream, and homosexuality is an accepted norm. The transgender movement is organizing and gaining ground.

Where does the Muslim community stand with regard to these changes? And how can we maintain our religious position in an ever-changing world, without aggression or harshness? Can we be allied with the gay community while professing that homosexuality is antithetical to God’s way? What should our youth do when their friends at school “come out” or choose to change their gender? Is Gay marriage a matter of civil rights or choice? How do we reconcile between our Islamic teachings and the status quo of society?

Join us on Friday, March 29th, to listen to Imam Azeez attempt to address these explosive questions.
